The original Monarch 4 Standard (M4S) was designed from the ground up to provide the same legendary Fodera quality of our custom instruments at a very competitive price point. Every M4S has been built right here in our Brooklyn shop alongside our custom instruments by the very same people, using the same tools.

From time to time, however, curiosity and a desire to have fun and do something new gets the better of us and every so often we plan on releasing small, “Special” runs of various Standard models that offer something unique. Perhaps a different combination of tonewoods, different electronics or different tops? Who knows where creativity will lead us? One thing is for certain...they will be limited in number and will sound and play every bit as well as every Fodera should!

For this first iteration of the Monarch Standard Special, Fodera opted to use a tonewood mixture that includes medium weight Ash bodies, quartersawn Hard Rock Maple necks, and Indian Rosewood fingerboards—all perfectly complimented by gorgeous Figured Myrtle tops.

Rounding out the package is our Fodera / Pope 3-band Standard Preamp and our own Fodera Dual Coil pickups. This version of the M4SS delivers deep, tight lows, transparent mids and a wonderful rich top-end making for great slap tones and precise, percussive, articulate finger-style runs.
